Improve your Childs Ability to Learn
Ten simple tips to help your child achieve their learning potential.
1. Start the day with a balanced breakfast and cut down on junk food.
2. Drink more water. Frequent sips of water help us concentrate more. When we are thirsty our mental performance can deteriorate by up to 10%
3. Encourage a wide range of interest and hobbies. From reading to sport from music to puzzles, a well rounded mind is one that is more agile and more able to problem solve.
4. Encourage physical movement. A healthy body is paramount to a healthy mind.
Physical movement can be a bike ride, team sport or martial art or even a simple walk to the shop to get some milk for mum..
5. Build self esteem and confidence. Students who are confident in their thinking and problem solving are more prepared to try new ways and strategies to learn new skills.
6. Set goals and talk about the future. Talk about career goals and aspirations and encourage students to seek role models in these areas. Relate knowledge and skills to practical, everyday activities and accomplishments.
7. Allow boisterous and messy play. Every kid needs to feel a little uninhibited now and then. The level is up to you. Finger painting modelling clay, water play or playing the sand or dirt can all be creative outlets and an opportunity for children to express and learn more about themselves.
